Reanimator Movie Review
Reanimator Movie Review
I just finished for the first time watching the cult classic H.P. Lovecraft's Reanimator. This came out in 1985. And was directed by Stuart Gordon. This movie starts very strong with a opening sequence involving some exploding eye balls. And Jeffery Combs is tremendous as a creepy Dr. Herbert West. I had always heard this was a great movie but, as we always do we have a tendency to pass up some older flicks for new releases either due to hype or bigger stars or whatever. Well, the gf and I fired up the Netflix on this one and away we go. The movie was about Reanimating the dead with a serum. Basically, to eventually develop a cure to death. Anyway, this movie has a little of everything. Crazy nutty doctors starved for power, tons of gore, and some decent nudity. Its reminds me a little of Dawn of the Dead only not with zombies. Well, sorta with zombies. Its a tad campy however, its got parts in it that will make you go damn thats fucked up. Like the head trying to go down on a straped down chick. And the scene with the back from the death cat clinging to Dr. West's back was priceless. It was great. Anyway, if you want to see a cult classic then go to your local BB or Netflix and rent this classic because frankly, this flick is great. 4 out 5 axes.
