Jason X Movie Review

Jason X Movie Review

Ok, so here we go with Jason X. Or Friday the 13th Part 10. Or Pigs in Space. Wait no Jason in Space. Jason in space? Jason Voorhees in space? Now, most Jason fans got pretty fired up for this movie due to the fact there had not been a Jason movie since 1993. So we had to wait for 9 years. 9 years? Come on New Line. You got to do better than that. Now, this movie timeline will always get destroyed by fans however, this mutha was in the future so it did not hurt any time line issues in case they wanted to make a Friday the 13th movie or relaunch or something. Wait. Thats really happening. This movie stars Lexi Doig as a government researcher who has basically captured Jason and trapped him until a suitable method of killing him can be determined. Since they have done everything in the world to Jason they decide to freeze him in a carbonite chamber in perfect hybernation. Wait? Wrong movie? Wait this isn't Captain Solo? We're not going to Jabba the Hutt? Your not Boba Fett. WTF? Ok, sorry back to the Jason X. Anyway, Jason X of course escapes some chains (like that was going to keep him) and kills a buncha soldiers who have come to transport him to some research facility led by a notable David Cronenberg. Who lasts all of about 2 minutes (maybe) but, cool cameo for fanboys. Also, has a great line we don't want him frozen. We want him soft. Nice. Also notable is Kane Hodder returning as Jason Voorhees. Once, again Kane plays a very good pissed off version of Jason in his terminator type fashion. Which will actually come true due to a serious transformation as some technology actually mends Jason back together after being blown to bits. Which by the way. Jason got fucked up by this android bitch. Serious. This mf tore Jason's ass up and killed him quick fast and in a hurry. Only problem is he came back as Uber Jason aka Jason the terminator. And i will say this is far fetched but, Uber Jason was one cool looking sonofbitch. Now, the acting other than Lexi Doig and Peter Mensah was terrible. And Jim Isaac director and Todd Farmer the writer tried their best with this idea of getting Jason the hell out of Crystal Lake. Which if you have watched His Name is Jason you realize how passionate Todd Farmer was about this movie and the fact evidently their were many individuals trying to pull this movie in different directions which led to its poor showing. There are some great kills including one of the best of all time with the frozen face in to the shatter move by Jason of this blonde gal. Great kill and a Crystal Lake flashback scene which made us immediately wish this movie had just been another Friday. I was frankly, hoping for a bigger scale battle between Peter Mensah and Jason but, it didn't happen except for Mensah guiding Jason in the atmosphere of Earth 2. Ironically, to Crystal Lake 2. That was pretty cool. And somebody should give Jim Isaac another chance cuz i like his Jason in snow idea at Crystal Lake. That could be one creepy environment. So, for the fact that the acting and almost cheap bad sci fi channel original movie effects in spots it was a decent Jason flick. I give it 3.5 out of 5 axes. Better than Part V. For me better than the original Friday (because Jason was in it killing). But, failed with the quality that high standards like Part IV or Part VI had brought us.
