Taken and Unborn Friday Box Office

Twentieth Century Fox's Liam Neeson action-thriller "Taken" grossed an estimated $9.5 million from 3,183 theaters at the Friday box office to score the best opening day ever for Super Bowl weekend.
Historically, male-driven pics have avoided the Super Bowl frame, but Fox decided to break that tradition in a move that will likely result in other studios doing the same, considering the strength of "Taken."
Paramount's new horror entry "The Uninvited" performed more in line with Super Bowl pics, grossing an estimated $4.3 million from 2,344 runs on Friday.
I have to admit both performed better than I expected however, its great to see Liam Neeson getting some box office love finally though and tremendous trailer had to have helped. Taken has a real chance to break $25 million. And much to my surprise the Unborn might get up around $12 to $15 million. Good stuff for horror and thriller fans.

28 Months Later (Update)
28 Months Later
In June 2007, it was announced that if DVD sales of the film did well Fox Atomic would consider producing the third film.
In July 2007, while promoting Sunshine, Boyle revealed that he has a story formulating for the next film. "There is an idea for the next one, something which would move [the story] on. I've got to think about it, whether it's right or not." Boyle also revealed that he would return as the director.
There is very little info other than this on 28 Months Later. Bloody-Disgusting.Com had a report a while back about the movie being set in Russia. As we get more info we will add the site and post it.
After MR from 28Dayslateranalysis.com asked me how soon we were looking at this movie happening I started hitting the web again to see if I can find anymore news. Here's the update.
I found a snippet from JoBlo.Com about a possible director for 28 Months Later.
"Now I kind of knew about that already but mention it here for those who may not know. The scoop I caught was that a director has been chosen for this second installment. Who? PAUL ANDREW WILLIAMS baby! The UK director of THE COTTAGE "

Here's the latest everything we could find on Saw 6.
So what can we expect from Saw 6? Saw 5 director David Hackl has confirmed he’s stepping aside for Kevin Greutert, who’s edited every Saw movie to date. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who wrote Saws 4 and 5, will pen the screenplay.
As for returning cast members, Costas Mandylor (Mark Hoffman) has signed for Saw 6, as has Tobin Bell (Jigsaw).
The fate of Dr Gordon from Saw 1 remains the biggest mystery in the series. The reason he never reappeared in subsequent movies is that actor Cary Elwes filed a lawsuit in 2005 against the producers for shortchanging him on pay. The rumor is they have now made up and Leigh Whannell says Elwes might be back for Saw 6.
DVD Charts - January 09 week ending 25th
Max Payne Grabs Number 1 Spot on DVD Rentals and Saw V gets love with the number 2 spot. The Kiefer Sutherland led Mirrors scored number 6 after previously ranking 4th.
Hard Weekend Coming for Horror: Our Box Office vs Super Bowl Prediction
Hard Weekend Coming for Horror: Our Box Office vs Super Bowl Prediction
The Uninvited opened this weekend. And I went to the movies last night. I will say. Hmmm.. well, there was about 30 people in the 7:30pm My Bloody Valentine 3D showing. And of the line of people ready to get movie tickets I take notes mentally of who's seeing what. Hate to say most was Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and some Renee Zellweger flick. None for the Uninvited. And frankly, with 10 hours of Super Bowl Pre-game coming Sunday well. Sunday's gonna be a massacre. Anyway, I predict the Uninvited lands maybe $7 or $8 million which will have this movie end up around $20 million. Maybe. Though, alot of dollars will come from Foreign box office. My Bloody Valentine 3D I believe might hold fairly well around $5 or $6 million. Which would move it closer to $50 million and I'm still crossing my fingers for more than that because after seeing it we have to have a sequel. The Uninvited might've seen $15 million on a non-SB weekend but, its going to be tough. And I live in East Texas. We all know Jason Goes To Hell only did some where in the neighborhood of $20 million at the box office but, the night it opened in East Texas showings were sold out completely. So in East Texas people really dig horror flicks. But, again no Uninvited out of 30 people I got to hear ordering tickets.

Friday the 13th Sequel talk, Freddy vs Jason 2, Elm Street
The Bloody-Disgusting.com crew scored some more big balls info regarding Friday the 13th sequels, The Elm Street remake, and Freddy vs Jason 2. Basically, it starts by talking about the fact that if Friday does well, then a sequel will pretty much be greenlit upon impact. But don't believe me click the below link and you get a buncha juicy stuff on all this:

My Bloody Valentine 3D Movie Review
My Bloody Valentine 3d Movie Review (spoilers ahead) (warning) (spoilers ahead)
Ok, so I got up off my ass to go see My Bloody Valentine 3d. Directed by Patrick Lussier who directed one of my favorite horror movies Dracula 2000 (what? Gerard Butler as Dracula? Hell yes). This movie also stars couple horror veterans. Tom "Halloween 3" Atkins and Kerr "Final Destination" Smith. And I will tell you. My how the 3d technology has changed since the Jaws 3d and Friday the 13th part 3d days. And guess what? No more red blue plastic paper glasses. So, here we go.
It starts with one of those kill a buncha people openings as Harry Warden pulls a Michael Myers ala Halloween 4 pop out of a coma deals and hacks up the hospital and buncha drunk kids down in a mine. And right before Warden is about to kill this fellow Tom Akins shows up and shoots his ass and chases him in to the mine. Then mine falls in. etc. Ok, flash forward 10 years. And Valentine's Day. The dude that almost gets killed in the opening scene shows back up in town as the majority owner of the mine his now deceased dad left him. Well, guess what? He shows up and folks start dropping dead Jason Voorhees style with a pick axe and miners outfit.
Kerr Smith is now sheriff and is married to the girlfriend of the guy that almost died in the opening scene. Well, I will say this. My Bloody Valentine 3D does most definitely supply the gore and the kills. And frankly, I'm glad Jason is coming back next month because judging by the theater's reaction to not only the Friday the 13th trailer and My Bloody Valentine horror fans are starved for slasher flicks. Now, after Kerr Smith and Jensen Ackles are pretty much narrowed down along with Jaime King as the only 3 fuckers alive. We realize something during the last 30 minutes of the movie. *************MASSIVE SPOILERS********** In which I just did a "oh fuck".... Harry Warden is not doing the killing. christ.... did we not learn from FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V A NEW BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh jesus. not again. Thats right somebody is killing folks using Harry's old MO. However, I will say this. I won't tell you the ending. However, I will say this. I let the somebody else is doing the damn killing slide. Which is big for me because I'm big on it being the original killer. I will just say I think most of this movie completely worked, with great gore, and pretty damn good nods to other movies. Complete with spooky woods, cabin, etc. I will tell you. If you haven't seen this in the theater get up off your ass and go see this. The 3D is worth it all in its self. If you want a good watch, like slasher flicks, go see My Bloody Valentine 3D. And I'm warning you. Your going to buy it on DVD too. Especially, if we get a unrated version. Whoa. I give it 4 pick axes out of 5... lol... I won't say a great slasher flick but, a very damn good one.

Rambo 5 on its way!!!
Ok, I was very impressed with Rambo the long awaited sequel to Rambo 3. Sly really took him to a seriously hardcore gore level. Anyway, never fear we are getting a Rambo 5 according Stallone. The latest made $113 million worldwide on a $50 million dollar budget. So it makes since.

Masters of the Universe movie has director
I was a massive fan of the cartoon and the toys growing up. Hell, I even enjoyed the terrible Dolph Lundgren led He Man movie back in the 80's. I've probably watched it 10 times on TBS. Well, its scored its director for the upcoming movie.
Reuters says John Stevenson (co-director of Kung Fu Panda) will be directing the feature. Click

Play Misty For Me Movie Review
Play Misty For Me Movie Review
So, one the things we're trying to at the Horror Hideout is I am trying to catch up on some old school movies and review them. I did the Burning the other day. Now play Misty for me. For any one that doesn't know Play Misty For Me was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Clint Eastwood, Jessica Walter, and Donna Mills. Clint Eastwood plays a radio DJ named Dave Garver who is essentially a player but, still loves a ex-girlfriend named Tobie who had left but, recently returned. Well, anyway right before she returns he meets a fan in a bar who had been calling in to the station to request "Play Misty For Me". He has a bit of a hit and quit it with this gal and she becomes obsessed. Now as alot of our readers have read I am more of a slasher flick kinda horror guy more than a supernatural guy. I will say Clint has a winner here and I know why its considered a classic. Now anybody that liked Fatal Attraction should really like this movie. I liked it better than Fatal Attraction.
Jessica Walter is a full blown psycho that won't get the hint when Clint tries to rekindle his love for his ex Tobie. Jessica begans a torrid right turn straight to nut bag. Stalking, and just showing up at places. Being jealous and writing out Luv you's in lip stick on his bedroom mirror. And she then follows the international nutty bitch playbook by trying to kill herself to keep his attention. Now, this is not a horror movie exactly but, there are definite aspects of slasher flick with this movie with a couple pop up on you scares. Eastwood would show early on his cinematic skills with direction. With a wonderful setup leading to a finale you can see coming a mile away and of course Eastwood would show off that famous punch of his he had in the Every Which Way But Loose series from the 70's. So if you haven't seen this. Go to Blockbuster or Netflix and order it. Its definitely worth the watch. I give Play Misty For Me 3.5 axes out of 5.

Predator Remake
Bloody-Disgusting.Com has got a major freakin' story on a possible Predator reboot/remake that is being pitched around town from Robert Rodriguez. Read the below snippet:
We've got a holy sh*t scoop for you that's going to have half of you screaming in excitement and the other throwing tomatoes. A reliable source dropped us a line revealing to us that Robert Rodriquez and his Troublemaker Studios will be producing the Predator reboot for 20th Century Fox. Now here' the kicker, the pitch being sent around town implies that the reboot will have more than one predator. "In the reboot a team of commandoes face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters." No writer has been attached yet - and there is no script. No word on whether or not Rodriquez will direct, but it seems highly unlikely considering how many projects he has in development.

Great Friday the 13th Fan Film
Evidently, this fan film has been around since 2003 but, some how i'm just now seeing it. Anyway, these guys have done several various fan films and this one is pretty damn good. Usually, one of the problems with fan films is poor fx and just some dude in a Jason Mask. This mf looks big and has the fx head going on and some decent kills. I've seen worse movies on the dvd rack at Blockbuster. Anyway, its only 16 minutes long and its got a pretty damn cool soundtrack mixing part 4, 6, Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason X.

V mini series remake on abc
File this under the I can't freaking wait category. One of my favorite series as a kid was the Marc "Beastmaster" Singer led scifi V series. Well abc has just ordered the V remake pilot and i'm fired up seriously for this reimaging.
The network has given a pilot order to a reimagining of the 1980s miniseries about an alien invasion.
Written on spec by "4400" co-creator/exec producer Scott Peters, the new "V" will center on a female Homeland Security agent.
Peters is exec producing the pilot with HDFilms principal Jason Hall. Here is the story from Hollywood Reporter

Nite Tales could be a TV series
Nite Tales could be a TV series
Flavor Flav's new Nite Tales could be more than just a movie coming to DVD. According to ShockTillyouDrop.com there is discussion on Flav's new Nite Tales making its way to some network at some point as a weekly series. I have to admit I saw the trailer for the movie on dvd and I'm actually fired up as it looks very cool in a Texas Chainsaw meets Tales from the Hood. And you throw in Tony Todd and a screwy clown and you can count me in. The dvd drops Feb 3rd.

Megan Fox as Lara Croft
Megan Fox as Lara Croft
File this under the I might even watch category. Megan Fox as Lara Croft? Wow. Credit: Darkhorizons.Com
Now comes word from Spanish news site Europa Press that the film's producers are considering taking the one thing that worked about those films - Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft - and replace her with "Transformers" babe Megan Fox.
Fox certainly would fit the shorts well, but as many can attest that isn't the Achilles Heel of the series, rather the lack of anything approaching a decent script and director. Given the proper pedigree it might be possible to 'reboot' the series in the same way James Bond and Batman successfully shook off the shackles of campy escapist trash that those franchises descended to at different points in the past.
The article also cites a production schedule of 2010 for release in the Summer of 2011.

Saw V Movie Review
Saw V Movie Review
Ok, we're going to start this review by saying i'm not one of these dudes that think having multiple sequels to a franchise is bad. I don't. Hell, I liked all of the Halloween movies (cept' III) and all of the Friday's (even kinda 5). That being said. Comes Saw 5 or Saw V. Depending on what day of the month it is. This movie stars (Costas Mandylor), who has all of a sudden resurrected what was going to be a promising career. Tobin Bell returns as Jigsaw. Who is deader than shit but, is back in flashback form. Now there is a phase called "jumping the shark". Well, damn. I will say. I loved Saw 1 thru 3. and I liked Saw 4 pretty well. However, Saw 5 just couldn't hang in with me. Number one. You've killed off Jigsaw. Which is ok. Cept' you've killed off every other character any one cares about. I will say I really liked the aspect between Costas and Agent Peter Strahm (Scott Patterson). And I feel its important to have some one to root to live in these movies. But, I'm not sure I can take it any more. Elwes, Glover, Patterson, Walhberg are all dead. Fuck it. I was hoping some damn body would live. Anyway, I found the dialog between the group of trap mongers to be flat at best. The traps got more and more boring. And maybe its finally run its course. Don't get me wrong. I'll watch the 6th one as soon as it comes out. But, I was missing Darren Lynn Bousman direction as this one seemed a little to scattered around and unorganized. Anyway, you will be forced to buy it. Just like i was forced to buy it because who wants to say they own Saw 1-4.... really? but, if you don't buy these as part of a collection or you don't plan on letting this thing grow on you. I'd say rent this one. Don't get me wrong. There are many other worse horror movies out there. Mirrors wasn't great.... and it could be worse. it could be Halloween 3. I give this one 2 out 5 axes.
Ok, we're going to start this review by saying i'm not one of these dudes that think having multiple sequels to a franchise is bad. I don't. Underworld 3 Rise of the Lycans Weekend Box Office Gross
Underworld 3 Rise of the Lycans Weekend Box Office Gross
Looks like I was under on my $22 million prediction of Underworld 3's Box Office. It opened to a estimated $20.7 million according to Variety.Com. A $20.7 million dollar opening still proves horror is alive at the box office and My Bloody Valentine 3d held at $10.1 millon with a 2 week total of $37.7 million. This gives both Valentine and Underworld 3 a shot at $50 million with a outside chance for $60 million. When you figure World Wide totals you can figure both franchises have a chance to continue. In whatever fashion. TV Series and in Bloody Valentine's case a part 2.
Sony was the other big winner of the weekend, claiming the No. 1 and No. 2 spots with holdover laffer "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" and new entry "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans."
"Mall Cop" declined a mere 32% to an estimated $21.5 million in its second weekend for a cume of $64.8 million in its first 10 days, according to Rentrak.
Playing in 2,942 runs, "Underworld" grossed an estimated $20.7 million from 2,942 theaters in its debut. Box observers said the pic turned in a solid performance, considering the absence of franchise star Kate Beckinsale.

5 Reasons Why The Friday the 13th Remake will Rule
5 Reasons Why The Friday the 13th Remake will Rule
Ok, so we are getting closer and closer to Jason Voorhees making his long awaited return to the big screen. I will say I am probably as big a Friday fan as anyone. I own a shit load of Jason Voorhees collectables. I'm a Jason and Tommy Jarvis frantic. Jason is to me the best horror icon and most brutal killer with everybody else being a distant 2nd. Yes, Michael Myers that means your at least 2nd. Well, maybe 2nd. lol. Anyway, I give you the top 5 reasons why Friday the 13th will be reborn on February 13th, 2009.
1)Michael Bay and Friday the 13th - Ok, this is the one that is going to be infamous. But, if this is ANYTHING like Texas Chainsaw. We are in for raw and brutal surprise. Michael Bay is like the 1 number most hated director or producer on the net. Which is insane to me as people continue to navigate their fat asses to the theater to see his movies. They must like something. And even the Hitcher was well produced and Sean Bean rocked. I just hope if they make several he makes sure Platinum Dunes continues to be brutal, raw and kick ass.
2)We need Jason. Its been 5 years since Freddy vs Jason. Which was great and fun however, we had to share Jason with Freddy. Blah. Horror needs Friday the 13th movies. Horror Needs Jason Voorhees.
3)Derek Mears. Wow, this hurts me to say because I'm a massive Kane Hodder fan (he is Jason) far as i'm concerned. However, Derek strikes me as some body that will own Jason and make him his own quick, moving, brutal killer we have been waiting for. I think Mears also has the potential to wear the mask for quite some time.
4)Little Jason and Mommy. We need to get to see a little more backstory on Jason and some little Jason and Mommy Voorhees is just what the doctor ordered. This is what I thought made Platinum Dunes Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning pretty damn good.
5)Paramount and New Line. Watching the trailer just seeing that brown wooden Paramount symbol come up with the CHI MA MA music makes me that much more excited. Jason Voorhees needs the Friday the 13th name back. And he has got them. New Line will continue to do a fine job of backing Jason as always.
Bonus: Number 1 thing I would like to see if this re-launches the franchise. If you plan on making this a re-born Franchise then its imperative that you bring back Tommy Jarvis. Jason needs his Dr. Loomis. And that person is Tommy Jarvis. And yeah, if you must it can be Corey Feldman. After all he's the right age and enough of a name you could use him. My personal wish would be Thom Mathews as I think he did a tremendous job with Tommy in Jason Lives but, I understand thats far fetched.

Underworld 3 Box Office
Is reporting Underworld Rise of the Lycans had a nice little $8 million dollar Friday opening bow. Not a bad take home. Puts this 3rd pic on board for $22-$26 million dollar opening weekend. Which is not bad and shows this trilogy has some serious legs. Here's hoping that tv series shows up for real and doesn't end like Blade. And for the record that Blade series rocked.

Saw Movie Review
Saw Movie Review
Ok, Before I start I want to preference this with a small disclaimer much like the i did for Mirrors. I really love these torture porn type horror movies. Also, horror movies that use very rough, dirty settings. That are high on gore and shock. As most of you know I do not care for supernatural horror which is why when i reviewed Mirrors I chose to let you know how I felt regarding supernatural horror. Now Saw. I will tell you that in the very first few minutes of Saw I knew we had something different. Violent. Twisted. Surreal. And Beautiful. First, I like the element of having evil men, doing evil things and cops after them. One day I will do a review for Se7en. Anyway, this movie had a couple of my favorite actors Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) and Danny Glover (Predator 2, Lethal Weapon series). So immediately, I was some what pumped for this movie from the gitty up. Let me say. This movie is raw, brutal, gritty, twisted. It brought to us one the most twisted mind fuck movies ever. The traps were unbelievable and Danny Glover was great as a detective trying to track his killer. Then that brings us to Jigsaw. Tobin Bell expose to the world a smart twisted presenter of violence. That had a purpose. The dialog between Elwes and Whannell was solid even if Whannell had a bit too much whiny bitch for me. I still rooted for him and Elwes to get out. As we all know then came time. When you realized he was going to cut his fucking foot off.. I know you thought oh jesus. But, then A old man stood up. in that room and some of the greatest music ever started playing and people across America people stood up and said "oh fuck" this mutha fucker is the killer. and then "Game Over" and the door slammed. And you felt as if you just witnessed cinema history. With a ending that reminded me of Se7en in some way but, left you going. Oh Jesus. What did I just see? Wow. And a legendary horror film series was born. I will soon do reviews for all the films. Anyway. If you buy some chance haven't seen Saw. And you enjoy horror. Go buy it. I would say rent it but, I can't imagine not owning this movie. I give it 5 out 5 axes. One of my top 20 all time best horror movies. Maybe in the top 10. Great fucking movie.
Saw is a 2004 horror film, the first installment of the Saw film series. Directed by James Wan and written by Wan and Leigh Whannell, Saw was filmed during only eighteen days of production. It was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2004 and saw international release later that year on October 29. Saw is essentially an expansion of Wan and Whannell's 2003 short film of the same name.
The film's story revolves around two men who are kidnapped and trapped locked in an industrial bathroom with a dead body between them and given instructions related to escaping. Meanwhile, police detectives investigate and attempt to apprehend the criminal responsible, the "Jigsaw Killer".
Originally rated NC-17 for strong, graphic violence, the film was slightly edited to achieve an R rating. The unrated version is available as the Saw: Uncut Edition, a DVD special edition that was released around the same time that Saw II was released theatrically.

Deadpool to Get More Screen Time in Wolverine
Deadpool is one of the cooler Marvel Characters and of course part of weapon X. In the movie Origins: Wolverine is portrayed by Ryan Reynolds. Who after Smoking Aces is one of my favorite actors. Anyway reports are dropping that his character was strong enough that he will have more than just a cameo but, will be a full supporting character in the movie. Stay tuned for more news regarding this. Credit: Dark Horizons.Com for the story.

Dakota Fanning Joins "Twilight"

Dakota Fanning ("Coarline," "Push") is in talks to play the vampire Jane in the upcoming "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" .
In Stephenie Meyer's novels, Jane is a member of the Volturi - an Italian vampire coven treated like royalty who essentially act as lethal enforcers to ensure the existence of vampires isn't exposed to humanity. Jane's special power is the ability to create illusions of pain.
Chris Weitz will direct the sequel which is scheduled to begin filming at the end of March with some filming to take place in Italy.

Mirrors Movie Review - Starring Keifer Sutherland Directed by Alexandre Aja
Mirrors Movie Review - Starring Keifer Sutherland
Director: Alexandre Aja
Well, before we getting started I feel it fair to pronounce that I really don't care for supernatural horror movies. The Sixth Sense I won't ever review because frankly, I don't want to review something that I just had almost no interest in. Now let me preface this. In this case of the Mirrors movie I was fired up as Keifer Sutherland was involved in one of my favorite movies Young Guns and Young Guns 2 (Doc Shurlock) and one of my all time favorite shows 24. And I loved High Tension and The Hill Have Eyes (Remake). I thought both were brutal and raw horror movies. Both with its fair share of gore and violence. No holds barred brutality. Then it brings me to Mirrors. This was the story of a former police detective who has become a pill head and is living with his sister after being thrown out by his ex-wife. Anyway, ol' Jack. My Bad. Keifer needs a job so he becomes a overnight security guard at a fired gutted department store. So anyway, after working there for a couple nights he starts experiencing all these supernatural acts of mental trickery. And he becomes haunted. Worst of all the Mirrors can actually transfer out to other mirrors and began causing acts of terror on to any one that Keifer comes in contact with. Upon further review the mirrors has been possessed by demons. or something. Anyway, If your a fan of supernatural horror i'd say check it out. You will probably get a kick out of it. And definitely worth a rent but, not a buy for me. It had its moments including a kick ass bathtub scene. Amy Smart. wow. Anyway, I give it 2.5 axes out 5. If you were a fan of Hills and Tension then prepare to be disappointed...... ;(

I'm trying more and more to post some movie reviews so I can give my take on all my favorite and not so favorite movies. Here for me comes a real bittersweet movie for me. Bittersweet because by now. You know Jason Voorhees wasn't the killer in this movie and some ambulance driver was (worst idea since Greedo shooting first) however, it does continue the Tommy Jarvis storyline. We find ourselves with Tommy at a half way house of sorts for mentally challenged kids. Now, Tommy has been haunted by images of Jason since the whole dramatic I killed Jason moment of Friday 13th Final Chapter (one day review coming). Anyway, the premise was to give everybody some Friday the 13th but, since they killed ol' Jason off. Shit. We got to do something else. So after seeing his son hacked up a ambulance driver decides to kill a bunch kids using Jason's old MO. Well, yikes. talk about Jumping the Shark. or whatever. Anyway, kids getting hacked up left and right with a nice amount of nudity and gore. If there wasn't a Friday the 13th Movie Series to follow I might have dug the shit out of this. But, knowing this wasn't Jason left me with that flipping my sister feeling. Sure, she's got a great bag of goodies but, in the end there is something wrong with it. I give it 2 axes out of 5. Which is so painful because this is my favorite horror series. Least Tommy Jarvis is back and that pretty much the reason it got an extra star instead of just one. Least Jason Lives was next....

Inside Man 2 Plot Revealed
One of the best mainstream efforts of 2006, Spike Lee's richly textured bank heist thriller "Inside Man" has been set for a sequel for around a year now.
This week however Spike Lee tells MTV News that the project is moving forward quickly, but the original plans have changed somewhat.
The good news is that the four key members of the original cast will return - Clive Owen as the criminal mastermind, Denzel Washington as a world-weary NYPD detective, Jodie Foster as an unscrupulous businesswoman and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Washington's partner.

Will Smith was on the Chris Moyles BBC 1 Radio show late last week and briefly talked about his upcoming projects:
In regards to the "Hancock" sequel he says it has been talked about but there is no script or other movement on it at present. Still he aims "keep him alive".
The "I Am Legend" prequel however is "a lot further along in development" but nothing new has come forward on it either lately.

My Bloody Valentine MLK Weekend Gross
My Bloody Valentine 3d scored big over the 4 day weekend with a estimated overall of $24 million dollars. Very good stuff and will definitely spur sequel talk for a future film. Take a look at some news from ShockTillyouDrop.Com One industry insider we spoke to last night told us Lionsgate was very happy with the response the film has gotten. This might make those rumblings of a sequel that were alluded to at the red carpet premiere (here) a reality. Writer Todd Farmer told us over the weekend that he would immediately leap at a chance to draft a follow-up at a moment's notice. We'll keep you posted if anything pans out.

The Burning Movie Review
The Burning Movie Review
Ok, so call me last person to show for the party. But, the old lady and me watched the Burning last night after receiving it from Netflix. Now, to for warn anybody that visits this site (which is starting to be quite a few) I have to tell you. I'm a fan of slasher flicks. I almost feel it unfair that I ever review a movie like Mirrors (Keifer Sutherland) or The Grudge (Sarah Michelle Gellar) because honestly I don't care for supernatural horror very much. The last movie I can say I liked was Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon. Anyway, back to the Burning. First, I could not believe how similar this movie and Friday the 13th Part 2 were in some ways. It had a camp fire scene complete with guy telling story about killer and the jokster jumping out for a goofy scare. A camp. with counselors. Killer etc. wow. couldn't believe it. Also notable is several future stars of TV and Movies. Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Holly Hunter (Raising Arizona), and Fisher Stevens (Short Circuit 1 and 2) all had roles in this movie. Also its famous for raft kill scene which was pretty damn brutal for a film made in 81. Tom Savini (Friday 13th, Friday Part 4) did the effects in this movie which made them better than decent for this time period. Although, it was seemed a little too campy in some parts. Which had almost a Meatballs feel. It was a good little slasher flick. If you like the Friday movies you will get a kick out of this. Don't expect the seriousness of the first two Friday movies. Think a very loose version of Friday. But, definitely rent it and watch it with some one that likes horror movies. And you will probably have plenty of conversation about it. 2.5 out of 5 axes.

My Bloody Valentine finishes 3rd in Box Office for Weekend
My Bloody Valentine finishes 3rd in Box Office for Weekend
According to Variety.Com My Bloody Valentine had a total weekend gross of a estimated $21.9 million dollars. Frankly, thats lower than I suspected it would gross. $21.9 million is extremely respectable by horror movie standards however, I really suspected between $25 and $30 million but, Gran Torino held tough. This leads me to believe it will finish between $38 and $45 million. It makes me nervous about Friday the 13th's remake gross. I am praying it scores huge so we can get some sequels. You can figure it needs a $30-$40 million dollar opening to get the automatic sequel greenlight. Damn shame it is not the summer are Friday would have a lock on it.
Lionsgate’s horror pic “My Bloody Valentine 3-D” narrowly beat Fox Searchlight’s biopic “Notorious,” distributed by big Fox, for No. 3.
“Valentine”--the widest 3-D release to date--grossed an estimated $21.9 million from 1,033 3-D locations and 1,501 conventional runs.

My Bloody Valentine opens strong with $8.1 million on Friday. This is a strong opening and i suspect it will have between a $18 to $25 million weekend. Unborn also continued strong with $3.3 million which leads it in the direct of $27 and probably over $30 for its gross so far.

Halloween Curse of Michael Myers Movie Review
Halloween Curse of Michael Myers Review
Ok, so i'm setting around in a theater in like 1996 when a trailer came on for Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers. All of a sudden i'm fired the hell up because I'd never seen a Halloween movie on the big screen. lets face it. quite alot of time went by between Halloween 5 and 6. So here was my opportunity. I would like to say this. To me. This is a highly underrated Halloween movie. It stars in his movie debut Paul Rudd (who to this day is one of my fav actors) and it marked the end of the road for a film legend Donald Pleasance. Pleasance died as filming ended if I understand correctly. Paul Rudd plays Tommy Doyle the kid that ran in to Michael Myers during Halloween while carrying a pumpkin and of course while Laurie Strode was getting nearly killed by Mikey. Anyway, this continued to explore the Thorn plot line, answered the question of the mystery man that broke Myers out of jail at the end of Halloween 5 and saw the end of a great character named Jamie Lloyd. Although, her ending was more of a side note and I thought should've either been skipped or worked around. I figure we all got some way of rating these movies. I'll give it 3.5 out 5 machete blades. lol... its better than 5 and 3. hell. better than H20 and Resurrection. oh wait. also it spawned thousands of horror fans spending time on ebay for bootlegs of the producer's cut. Which in my opinion no way as good as the regular cut but, most fans tend to think the producer's cut is the better flick. Anyway, if you haven't seen it. Go rent or buy it. The first 20 mins are decent. But, the last 20 minutes are flat great. Including Tommy Doyle making us recall visions of Tommy Jarvis in Friday Part 4 going ape shit on Myers' ass.

Jericho Movie in the Works
According to "National Treasure" director John Turteltaub" they are tossing around the idea of doing a feature movie for Jericho. Jericho had a very strong cult following but, not enough for ratings to keep it airing on CBS. No word whether Skeet Ulrich would come back for it. I can't imagine him not though. Below is a snippet from IF Magazine and Credit them as source for the interview click Here
"We’re developing a feature for 'Jericho'. It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho" says Turtletaub.

Rob Zombie announced today that Ezra Buzzington will be taking up a role in H2 (Halloween 2), which begins shooting in Georgia soon. Hopefully this time his role will remain in the movie. The new film picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted. Dimension has it slated for release on August 28th, although for once I'd love to see a HALLOWEEN film in October.

Halloween H2 Gets New Director of Photography
Halloween 2 Gets New Director of Photography
Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com January 9, 2009
Rob Zombie is replacing the director of photography of his last two features - Phil Parmet (The Devil's Rejects and Halloween) - with Brandon Trost for Halloween 2. They commence shooting on the sequel in Atlanta, Georgia on February 23rd for Dimension Films.
Trost has amassed a sizable list of credits in the cinematography and special effects departments. In the latter, he has worked as an FX assistant on Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Scream 2. As a director of photography he shot Rob Hall's Lightning Bug, Jake Kennedy's Days of Darkness and, most recently, Crank 2: High Voltage.
Zombie has stated that this new sequel is going to be, when compared to the 2007 remake, different in the same fashion The Devil's Rejects is to its predecessor House of 1000 Corpses. Getting a new d.p., who's possibly going to bring to the table a new look to the film, is certainly one way to change things up.
Halloween 2 picked up immediately after the remake and finds Tyler Mane reprising his role as Michael Myers. More cast members will be announced shortly.

Ghostbuster 3 filming? Rumors?
It was reported on Bloody Disgusting.Com that apparently there is a site up claiming to be ran by a member of a crew secretly filming Ghostbusters 3 in New York City. Bloody Disgusting is asking for people to go to their site and drop them a line whether this is true or not. Sounds like dog shit to me.
I just received an e-mail from IESB.net who was just as perplexed as we are by this website. What is it? Apparently it's a "spy" site run by one of the crew members on Columbia Pictures' Ghostbusters 3. All of our journalistic instincts scream "bullsh*t", yet I can't help but find myself intrigued by the site where you'll find footage from "the set", along with designs for new ghost busting gear. Odds are it's all a crock of sh*t, but with this year being the films' 25th anniversary it's quite possible that this has something to do with the crew who "ain't afraid of no ghosts." If anyone has any intel on what this viral campaign is, drop us a line immediately. We'll update you as soon as it's revealed to be a hoax or not (expect the latter).

My Bloody Valentine Sequel
During a recent interview with My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier, we got the skinny on a possible sequel to the film, along with details on what he'll be doing next. You can check out the remake in theaters January 16th.
On a possible sequel Lussier tells us that, "It all depends on what happens next. Todd Farmer and I definitely know where we'd take the story if fortune give us the opportunity."
On what's next he tells us that it's "Undetermined right now, but mostly like another genre film. I've been developing a couple of things with Todd, all dark, fun and scary. The film adaptation of HEADHUNTER, Michael Slade's book is still something I want to make and have wanted to make for years now. But as usual, the future is the hardest thing to pin down and it's usually the thing you don't expect that surges forward."
In HEADHUNTER, the women aren't safe with a beheading killer on the lose. Detective Robert DeClercq was even eluded as he and the police combed the lower depths of the sexual underground on two continents.

Fright Night Remake on Hold
Screen Gems has apparently ditched its plans for a remake of the classic 80's vampire feature "Fright Night" reports STYD.
The studio apparently couldn't find a script they liked after fielding several pitches, and so the update has been shelved for now. The move comes not long after a remake of the vampire western "Near Dark" was also put on hold.
In the original 80's film, a young man is convinced his new neighbor is a vampire and recruits the help of a classic horror actor turned rundown cable show host to help him prove it.

Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2
Variety.Com is reporting Iron Man 2 may have found Mickey Rourke to be its villian. This would be a brillant casting.
In what would mark his first studio film since resurrecting his career with "The Wrestler," Mickey Rourke is in talks to play the main heavy in "Iron Man 2," the Marvel Entertainment sequel that director Jon Favreau begins shooting this spring.
Sam Rockwell also has begun talks to play a villain in the pic, to be distribbed by Paramount Pictures in summer 2010.
Which role Rockwell will play has yet to be disclosed by Marvel, but Rourke is in discussions to play the Crimson Dynamo, a heavily tattooed Russian arms dealer. He's considered to be an evil version of Iron Man because he battles the superhero in a nuclear-powered suit of armor.
Script is still being written by Justin Theroux, and Marvel has been trying to keep a wrap on details leaking out to fanboys.
Rourke goes into the Golden Globes weekend vying for best actor in a role that revived his career. Robert Downey Jr. soared to become one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood when "Iron Man" grossed more than $600 million worldwide.
Rockwell most recently appeared in "Frost/Nixon" and "Choke."
Rourke is repped by ICM.

Check out this shit that bloody disgusting found. This is a article from their site about Pamela Voorhees times 2.
While browsing around on the IMDB page of Warner Bros. upcoming remake of Friday the 13th I noticed something intriguing. On the site they credit Nana Visitor as the actress who plays Pamela Voorhees (Jason's mother who is beheaded in the original) and Kathleen Garrett as "Jason's Mother". We made a few phone calls and learned that there are in fact two people playing Pamela Voorhees, and here's how. Visitor - who was the first cast - stars in the actual film at Ms. Voorhees, while Garrett shared her voice as Jason's anger-filled mama in the full trailer that's been online the past few months. Hope that clears the air. You can see Visitor in action when FRIDAY hits theaters February 13th, 2009.

Thor Ending Changed
"Thor" Ending Changed For "Avengers"
IESB reports that the character of Donald Blake has been added to the end of the script of Kenneth Branagh's upcoming "Thor" film.
Before now, the script was set entirely in the land of the Norse Gods but the introduction of this character is essential to how Marvel will tie Thor into its proposed "The Avengers" movie which is set in a contemporary timeframe.
The scene itself apparently has Blake discovering the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and turning into Thor. Branagh himself will also have an acting part in the "Thor" film which opens July 2010. "The Avengers" film is currently scheduled for July 2011.
