CW developing Flash Series!!
Some very interesting and exciting comic book adaptation news today. CW who hosts the popular DC Series Arrow (Based on Green Arrow) has announced they are moving forward on a series based on another very popular Justice League member "The Flash".
Evidently, the series according to Deadline.Com the character is set to make a appearance on the second season of Arrow. Around the 8th or 9th episode.
Casting is even expected to start this week on the role. No word on how this may effect the potential Justice League movie.
Here is quote from today from Arrow writer Greg Berlanti "Barry Allen’s story always has been a favorite of mine," Berlanti said, "as well as of Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns. We wanted everyone to know about the show as that process commenced. We think it fits well both in terms of Arrow and as a stand-alone series."
David Nutter, director of the Arrow pilot, could direct The Flash pilot.

King Conan a Trilogy?
It seems we may get more than just one more dose of Arnold as Conan. We may get 3 doses. Depending on the box office of course. The CEO of Paradox has spoken regarding the upcoming Conan films.
"We have a great story. This is a role that’s perfect for [Arnold] and he’s very involved with the whole Universal team.
Arnold has been very instrumental to bringing this together saying, 'We gotta make a good Conan!' I think if we do this right, we can do two more Conan movies right after.
I think Game Of Thrones also shows a huge interest in fantasy. I’m psyched about it."
"The idea is that this takes place AFTER Conan has been king. But this is the legend of Conan where he has been gone and people say, 'do you remember the good ol' days when Conan was around?' And now it's time for him to come back.
In the stories and you can also see it when he's sitting on the thrown and the narration on that last scene of the movie..."with a troubled brow" ...you can tell he's not really happy being king. So, it's time for him to go out and do battle." Credit ArnoldFans.Com

Under The Dome Gets Renewed for Season 2
What originally started out as a one time summer series is getting a season 2. Ratings can change a lot of minds and with 16.7 million watching the 1st episode you figured this was coming.
Also it seems they have inked a deal with Amazon that will offset the budget of the episodes. That can not hurt. And the producers have opted for a story that may push passed the novel. Credit: Live Feed

"The Wolverine" Slashes the box office with International!!
Updated: With International Totals!
The box office weekend looked REAL promising for The Wolverine. The 2nd installment of the Origins of Wolverine. Personally, I thought the 1st one was the best of the X-Men franchise movies with First Class being a close 2nd. Fact is I am a big superhero movie fan however, I was not impressed with any of the 3 X-Men movies. To me they pale in comparison to the Iron Mans, Dark Knights, and Man of Steels of the world.
Anyway, The Wolverine started very strong for the weekend. Opening with $21 million on Friday with a another $4 million from late night Thursday screenings. However, it has since taken a turn downward.
It will take number 1 at the Box Office but, it's going to struggle to hit $55 million. The original forecast was $65-80 million. Ouch. This also continues the string of big budget movies struggling. I will say this. This movie WILL NOT bomb. More than 50% of this movie's take will come overseas and with a $125 million budget. International totals just came in and they're huge. The Wolverine did $86 million in overseas money. That's $141 million worldwide and it blows past it's budget.
The Conjuring continues to get butts in the seats and will take number 2. Add another $22-24 million and you have a $85 million total for 2 weeks. Wow. The little horror movie that could. Add another $12 million overseas. And The Conjuring is at $95 million overall.
Despicable Me 2 grabbed another $16 million from the kids and parents. It has now grossed a insane $306 million in USA dollars.
Red 2 continued to struggle taking in another $8.7 million. That's a $34 million total in 2 weeks. Ouch. The 1st movie however, did big money overseas. Add $17 million overseas. That's $52 million total.
Pacific Rim (which I saw yesterday (yawn)) continues to go off strong word of mouth (I have no idea why) and critical acclaim grabbed $7.5 million for a $83 million USA total. Important to note it's made $185 million worldwide. The international came in and it's pretty big. Pacific Rim has now made $140 million worldwide. That gives it $224 million total and now $35 million passed it's budget.

The "Wolverine" Slashes into Thursday Box Office!! #TheWolverine
Ahh, the box office drought may be over for high budgeted movies. The latest edition to the Marvel, X-Men family charged into theaters on Thursday night late screenings with a healthy $4 million.
The Wolverine expands into 3,900 plus theaters and another 62 overseas territories starting today.
Predictions have it between $70-$80 million for the weekend. And that's USA only.

Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling up for Star Wars Episode 7
Rumors are circulating that both Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling is possibly in on the 7th installment of the Star Wars franchise.
Latino Review also reported that Leonardo DiCaprio went in for a possible meeting and a role but, passed due to working on the Robotech project.
There is no role mentioned for Efron. However, Gosling MAY be up for the role of Luke Skywalker's son.
Gosling's people are stating the rumors are not true. We'll see.
Rocky to Mentor "Apollo Creed's Grandson?"
Some VERY interesting news coming out about one of my favorite franchises involving the Rocky Balboa character and his old (now deceased) pal Apollo Creed.
Evidently, there is a possible spin off movie involving Apollo Creed's grandson learning to box and being mentored by Rocky. Director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan (Creed's Grandson) are involved in the project.
In the script, Apollo's grandson has no desire to box and yet possesses the gifts and potential of his grandfather. He needs a mentor and seeks out retired fighter Rocky Balboa who isn't eager to return to the boxing world, even as a trainer. Stallone will reprise his role in this. Credit: Deadline.Com

Final Box Office Estimates with Worldwide #boxoffice
The Conjuring opened to a massive $41 million and took the number 1 spot in the USA. It added another $3.4 million overseas. That's a big time $44.9 million overall. The Conjuring doubled it's budget.
Despicable Me 2 continued it's torrid pace landing another $25 million ($276 million) in the USA and was number 2. Add in $308 million overseas total and it's looking at $584 million worldwide.
The Plane re-hash of the animated Cars crash landed at 3 with $21 million. It opened last Wednesday so it got a jumped start (sorta) toward $31 million overall. It had a $135 million budget (Ouch).
Red 2 opened right on par with Red 1 (also known as just plain ol' Red) with $18.5 million and was 4th. It pulled another $7.6 million overseas. So it took $26 million worldwide. With only a $84 million budget it's going to end up doing well as I suspect it will take 50% of it's earnings worldwide.
Pacific Rim added another $15 million in the USA for 6th. But, the thing to watch is $110 million it's made overseas. Combined with $68 million in the USA it's at $178 million. $12 million under it's budget. I think it may see $300 million. Which is a healthy profit.
Now for the bomb of the weekend. RIPD (you know dead people Men in Black) with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges opened with a awful $12 million off a $130 million budget. It did add $6.7 million overseas for a ugly $19 million total worldwide. Ugh.

Michael Jai White and Kevin Alejandro join Arrow Season 2!! #SDCC
Here is some more juicy Comic Con Arrow information from the upcoming CW's Season 2!!
Oliver Queen (series star Stephen Amell) will have his work cut out for him when he returns to Starling City on October 9 for the second season of The CW’s #1 series Arrow (Wednesdays 8/7c). At today’s Comic-Con panel session in Ballroom 20, fans learned of two new DC Comics characters coming to Starling City — Bronze Tiger and Sebastian Blood. Executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Michael Jai White (Spawn, The Dark Knight, Mortal Kombat) will guest star as Bronze Tiger, while Kevin Alejandro (Southland, True Blood, Golden Boy) will appear as Sebastian Blood in upcoming episodes of the acclaimed action drama’s second season (airdates to be announced).
Michael Jai White plays Ben Turner, a claw-wielding assassin better known as Bronze Tiger, who’s well known to DC Comics fans as a member of both the League of Assassins and the Suicide Squad. On Arrow, he’ll form an unholy alliance with fan-favorite villain China White (played by Kelly Hu), another well-established character in the DC Comics universe.
Kevin Alejandro plays Sebastian Blood. Drawing inspiration from the iconic New Teen Titans nemesis Brother Blood, Sebastian is an alderman who rises to power in the wake of the earthquake that devastated Starling City in Arrow’s first-season finale. Blood’s “man-of-the-people” popularity instantly places him at odds with Oliver Queen, whose family he blames for the quake.

The Batman/Superman Movie is A GO!! Official!!
News is being reported today out of Comic Con and The Hollywood Reporter that we are finally going to get out Superman and Batman team up movie!
Warner Bros. is expected to announce today at Comic Con that the superhero duo will team up in a follow up to Man of Steel. The film will be directed by Zack Snyder.
They are targeting a 2015 release with David Goyer writing the script for the movie.
Man of Steel has currently grossed over $620 million worldwide and The Dark Knight Trilogy approached $2.5 billion.
Henry Cavill will play Superman. Evidently Christian Bale will not be Batman but, we'll see if a $20 million asking price changes his mind.

Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash | A Fan Film
Any time I come across a good fan film I try to give it some love on here. Keep in mind it's a fan film. But, it's got some redeeming qualities. I like the bring back to the old school Friday the 13th Part 6-8 version of Jason.
Freddy is pretty fair and the guy playing Ash did well under the circumstances of trying to live up to a legend.

"The Conjuring" gaining Massive Weekend Box Office!
Horror will have it's day again at the box office or at least it's weekend.
The Conjuring directed by James Wan is on pace for a massive $35-$40 take at the weekend's box office. It will be number 1.
Red 2 is opening flat vs Red with a estimated $15-20 million. I suspect it will do pretty well overseas. The 1st installment gained a healthy $108 million overseas. Big difference this time. Red 2 has a $84 million budget vs a $58 million dollar budget last time. It does have some pretty strong word of mouth reviews and frankly I really liked the 1st one even though I believed I was going to hate it.
RIPD is bombing plain and simple. The $155 million dollar budgeted Men in Black with dead people starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges is only predicting to open at around $15 million and that's on the generous side. Ouch. I do believe it will fare better overseas where movies like Men in Black make about 55-60% of it's earnings.
Hell, even Will Smith's After Earth is a bonafide hit overseas and has made $215 million total... Remember that film was considered a bomb and it has now made about $80 million profit. That's before blu-ray and dvd. (Keep a eye on Lone Ranger overseas) It's grossed $50 million overseas and $126 million total).
Pacific Rim has made another $14-16 million in the USA. Bringing it's total to $110 million worldwide. It still needs another $80 million to break even. However, the overseas totals will start coming in on Sunday.

CW's Arrow lands a Black Canary!
I know this is a horror website. But, I am also a big superhero fan. So I try to put out as much Superhero movie/tv news as I can.
According to the website The Wrap The Black Canary will be joining season 2 of Arrow on CW.
They have cast The Pact's Caity Lotz as Dinah Drake. The producers evidently will be doing a Golden Age version of Black Canary. Canary is or should be a love interest of the Green Arrow as well. Note: Laurel Lance will NOT be Canary.

Sharknado 2 is a Reality!
Huh. Okay. Syfy has announced plans for a sequel to Sharknado which will be called Sharknado 2!
I guess I am the only person that has not seen the 1st one. Below is the release:
Sharknado 2 (working title), which will again be produced by The Asylum, is scheduled to premiere on Syfy in 2014. Syfy also announced a special Twitter contest to help name the movie with an appropriate subtitle. Fans will be able to tweet their subtitle to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado. Syfy will select the best submission as the subtitle for Sharknado 2. In making the announcement, Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy, said: “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm – on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that 'Sharknado 2' will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”

Fuller comments on Friday the 13th Part 2!
I am a massive Jason Voorhees fan. And I pretty big fan of the Platinum Dunes reboot (yeah, I was one of the 12 people that liked it). All kidding aside I remember when that reboot dropped and in the first 2 days fan reviews were about 10 likes vs every 1 dislike (then it became the cool thing to hate it).
Anyway, Brad Fuller answered a Twitter question today about the upcoming Friday sequel with a possible timeline. Check it out below.
Brad Fuller @bcfuller
@superchecco we are wrapping TMNT and Almanac over the next month. Then we will start to work on F13 .
That is a quicker timeline than I expected. But, you would think that would put them on course for a possible June 13th release next year or and probably more likely a February 13, 2015 release.
Hard to believe it would get a prime summer tentpole spot. Though, I firmly believe it could do $50 million on a summer weekend depending on the competition.
Predator in 3D
News and rumors have been floating around Comic Con about a possible new Predators movie complete with a new poster on the Facebook site (as posted earlier).
Welp, sorry to bust some bubbles however, the new flick is the old flick. The original Predator movie is being converted to 3D for a Blu-Ray release.
That's brutal and frankly not that exciting to me. I am one of the few individuals on the planet that likes all of the Predator movies including the HIGHLY underrated Predator 2. I was hoping to get a direct sequel to either Predator 2 or Predators.
True Blood Gets 7th Season!
The original series on HBO True Blood has been renewed for a 7th season. The new season will premiere summer 2014.
HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo says: " TRUE BLOOD remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers. Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV."
Currently the 6th season is rolling with about 10 million viewers per episode. Very good for any cable show.
Is a New Predators Movie coming?? #HuntThePredator
Interesting tidbit is the Facebook page for the 2010 Predators movie has posted a interesting poster.

Pacific Rim Rocks Box Office!
Updated: 4:00CDT
Pacific Rim opened with a strong $38 million USA box office which was good but, only good for 3rd in the weekend box office tally. Despicable Me 2 ran neck and neck with Grown Ups 2 all weekend... They both traded places throughout the weekend.
Me 2 added another $44 million and now has a insane $229 million in USA box office. Throw in another $243 million overseas and that's $476 million for a budget of $76 million. Good chance we get a Me 3 at some point.
Grown Ups 2 despite absolutely horrible critical reviews grabbed $42.5 million. That made up more than half it's budget in the 1st week. Grown Ups 2 finished 2nd to Me 2. Pacific Rim was 3rd.
Rim may look like a borderline bomb except it opened internationally as well. The robot vs monster flick got another $53 million overseas. And finished with a huge $91 million dollar overall haul. Also, people on social media and word of mouth may prove strong for this flick. Every where I look somebody said it was good.
Lone Ranger pulled $11 million and now has $71 million in the USA. It has added a pretty impressive $48 million in overseas money for a $119 million total... Makes me wonder if it won't end up being like Waterworld. That pulled a very good overseas and dvd haul and last I check has made a good profit after being labeled one of the biggest bombs ever.
Man of Steel added $4.8 million. World wide the Superman reboot has made a massive $619 million.. World War Z has made massive money overseas. Totaling $247 million and another $177 million after a strong $9 million haul in the USA. That's $423 million world wide. A real box office smash.
Pacific Rim Strong At Box Office but, not 1st....
Pacific Rim is opening strong at around $13.5 million for Friday. However, Grown Ups 2 looks to take the weekend as it opened with $16.5 million with terrible critical reviews.
Despicable Me 2 held REAL strong at $15 million and still has a good chance to finish number 1 at the BO. Pacific Rim is headed toward a $35-$38 million dollar opening weekend. The film has grossed $7.8 million in overseas money already as well.

Mace Windu's Return in Episode VII
Samuel Jackson seems to be talking up a possible return to the force. In comments made to Access Hollywood:
"I thoroughly think that Jedi can fall high distances and not die," when referring to Windu's fall out of a window.
"There is a history of Jedis getting their hands cut off and showing back up," - a reference to Luke and Anakin Skywalker
Personally, I could see him maybe showing up in the hologram give some Jedi some advice role. I do not know about a full fledged return. But, who doesn't want to see him back?

Seagal in Expendables 3??? Will fight Mel Gibson?
We knew a while back Sly Stallone had approached Steven Seagal about being in Expendables 3. However, now news is breaking this is the actual case as there are official talks being reported.
As part of this is Mel Gibson in a fight scene with Seagal. There is no word which side either will be on.
I personally like Mel as a bad guy.

Lone Ranger Bombs, Me 2 Excels, Zombies and Monsters Hold Strong Box Office!
Despite the fact that I talked to the 4 people that actually went and saw Lone Ranger and they said it was "great"... And a must see. Evidently, nobody else thought that. Which leads me to believe I will believe nothing they say...
The Lone Ranger which was a $250 budgeted monster came in with a whimper.... It had a 4 day holiday haul of $48 million dollars. That is some $20 million below even the lowest predictions. Wow. I still believe it's because nobody knows who the hell "Armie Hammer baking soda" is. Johnny Depp could not even save it. Ouch. Attention Hollywood people LOVE westerns.... As long as they're serious in tone. Please see True Grit, Tombstone, Unforgiven. Johnny Depp's bird on the head does not scream "serious".
Despicable Me 2 opened with a insane $140.5 million dollars over 4 days. Attention Lone Ranger now that's what a hit looks like. Monsters University continued strong with $19.5 million over the weekend and it has now owned $215 million. World War Z also dominates nicely with another $17.8 million. It's total is now at $158 million USA dollars.
Man of Steel continues to have legs with movie goers. It grabbed another $11.4 million over the weekend. Superman has now grabbed $271 million USA money.
White House Down continues to go down. It grabbed $13.5 million and now has a turn and cough $50 million total. Yikes... I continue to believe Channing Tatum is NOT box office gold. If that would've been The Rock, Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, or any legit action star I believe it would have doubled it's current gross.
Despicable Me 2 opened with a insane $140.5 million dollars over 4 days. Attention Lone Ranger now that's what a hit looks like. Bale Not Batman in Justice League
I am really fired up for any movie involving DC characters as they were always my favorites over Marvel. Granted, I enjoy both regardless.
However, part of that is I am a real fan of the vision Christopher Nolan had for both Batman and Superman (Man of Steel). News comes now from EW that Christian Bale will NOT play Batman in the upcoming Justice League. Below are quotes:
"We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That's enough. Let's not get greedy. I have no information [about 'Justice League']. I've literally not had a conversation with a living soul.
I understand that they may be making a 'Justice League' movie, that's it. It's a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with."
I hope Christian will be coaxed using something like a $20 million price tag or a Robert Downey Jr. back end type salary. Which would spell a ton of the money for the Caped Crusader.
