Predators Movie Review

Predators Movie Review

Well, folks its been a long time since I reviewed a movie but, hell, I've had serious downtime. Anyway, I'm back with a vengence. Well, so supposely this Predators movie has been in the mind of Robert Rodriguez for around 15 years. Wow.
But, ok. Now, we automatically have an improvement of cast over the two previous A v P movies just with cast itself. Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Walton Goggins are a damn sight better than nobody nobody nobody of the last two. I mean I'm a massive Rescue Me fan but, Steven Pasquale? Really? Ok. Maybe as like the 4th guy down the cast list as some back up but, you HAVE to have name or two in a Predator movie.
Predator 2 gave us Danny Glover, Bill Paxton, Ruben Blades, and threw in some Gary Busey. We also had a cameo of sorts for Laurence Fishburne. Which I hate to admit I considered to be sorta a weak link in the movie. It just seemed alittle out of place. Or more so don't have him end up being a punk. Which they kind of did. Anyway, this movie was pretty well done. It did immediately give the feel of the original 2 just with score alone. Which was right on the money with the original. Also the jungle was fantastic for if nothing else lore value alone. Now, I tell you I had some doubts about Adrien Brody but, he pulled off this role as a more realistic today version of badass tough guy. Definitely a fine opponent for the Predators. I also appreciated Walton Goggins having a real role as he is a tremendous TV actor that should be in more and more movies. His work in The Shield and now Justified is fantastic. The Predator dogs were extremely tough and cool and added a real we're on a hunt feel to this movie. Now, understand as fired up as I was for this movie I did not expect it to be as good as the original. And maybe not as good as Predator 2 which to me is HIGHLY underappreciated. And it landed where it probably should be. A strong tie for 2nd or in 3rd place as the series runs. Topher Grace was good in the movie but, his finale storyline seemed really strange. I did not care of the involvement his character had in a pivotal part of the movie. However, he is pretty strong as an actor so at least he did the character he played well. There was no cameo by Arnold due to scheduling. But, its being said maybe for another sequel. All in all it is a strong entry into the series. I give it 4 axes out of 5. Great cast, good action, some gore keeps this as a real good creature feature.
